We are often told that it’s bad to jump to conclusions.
Good advice, but we can’t seem to help ourselves!!
There’s a reason – it’s actually built into our DNA!
Millions of years ago, when our ancestors were hunter-gatherers, every time they saw a rustling in the tall grass, or an animal sound in the distance, they had to quickly decide to… Fight or Flight.
Since survival depended on it, they didn’t have much of an option.
Eventually, our brains got hardwired to look for patterns, to avoid analyzing every instance.
Great! So now they could quickly decide whether that noise meant that it was… Food for them, or, whether THEY were going to become Food!
Truly beneficial, as they lived to tell the tale, but we creatures of habit tend to do this even today.
Guard against being hasty.
Unless someone is running toward you with a knife, or has a gun aimed at you, in which case, yes, please decide quickly!
And now that you’re aware, hopefully, you’ll be less judgmental & make better decisions. ????????
